Benefits of Lilac Lotion for your skin
Lilac, known for its lovely fragrance and ornamental value, also offers several benefits for the skin.
Here a quick list of the top benefits.
- Antioxidant Properties: Lilac contains antioxidants, which help protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals. These free radicals can lead to premature aging and skin problems. Lilac’s antioxidants help combat these issues.
- Anti-Inflammatory: Lilac has anti-inflammatory properties that can be soothing for irritated skin. It can help reduce redness and swelling, making it suitable for those with sensitive or acne-prone skin.
- Skin Brightening: Some lilac extracts are known for their skin-brightening properties. They can help fade dark spots and promote a more even skin tone.
- Antibacterial: Lilac contains compounds that have antibacterial properties. This can be beneficial for individuals dealing with acne, as it can help control the growth of acne-causing bacteria.
- Moisturizing: Lilac can have a hydrating effect on the skin, making it useful for people with dry or dehydrated skin. It can help lock in moisture and prevent skin from becoming overly dry.
- Aromatherapy Benefits: While not directly related to skin health, the fragrance of lilac is known for its relaxing and mood-enhancing properties. Aromatherapy with lilac can help reduce stress, which indirectly benefits the skin by minimizing stress-related skin issues.
- Natural Ingredient: Many people prefer using natural ingredients in their skincare routine, and lilac fits this criteria. Using products that contain lilac extracts can be a more natural and gentle approach to skincare.
- Fragrance: Lilac’s delightful scent can be incorporated into various skincare products, such as perfumes, lotions, and oils, providing a pleasant olfactory experience.
Remember that while lilac can offer these benefits, individual reactions to skincare ingredients can vary. It’s a good idea to do a patch test when trying new products with lilac to ensure it suits your skin. Also, consult with a dermatologist or skincare professional if you have specific skin concerns or conditions.

How to make Lilac Infused Lotion
Before you get started, gather all of your supplies.
The first step is to make your lilac infused oil which will takes only a few active minutes, and about 2 weeks to infuse it.
Add your lilac flowers to a glass jar and cover with the avocado oil.
Cover it with a lid and allow it to sit in a dark cool place for 2 weeks. You’ll need to gently shake it every day. If you’re forgetful like me, add a daily reminder on your phone or put a sticky note on your fridge so you remember to do this.
Then strain the flowers from the oil and discard the flowers and you have your oil that you’ll use for your lotion.
Once you have your lilac infused oil ready to go, it’s time to make your lotion.
Get your beeswax, shea butter, lilac infused oil, and optional mica powder and essential oils together.

In a double boiler or a heat-safe bowl set over a pot of simmering water, melt the beeswax pellets, shea butter, and the infused oil together.
I recommend using a wooden craft stick to stir the ingredients together. This makes for a quick and easy cleanup.
Once everything is fully melted and mixed together, set aside in the fridge until it is solid, which is about an hour or so.
Once it has solidified, mix with a hand or stand mixer until it is fluffy and has a whipped consistency.
Optional – If you want to add any essential oils, now is the perfect time to do that. Some frankincense is always wonderful in lotion!
Optional – Add the mica powder to give your lotion a lovely lilac color. Be sure to mix it thoroughly until you get the color you like.
Pour the mixture into small glass jars and use as needed!
