Supplies for your Homemade Lip Plumper with Essential Oils
5 ml Roller Bottle
First you’ll need an empty 5ml roller bottle. This is just like what those Lip Smackers from the 80’s used to come in. I know I just totally dated myself. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, you missed out and I’m sorry.
I love to order my supplies from Amazon because they have everything and free Prime shipping just makes it super easy.
I love these colorful 5ml roller bottles with the matching lids. They are priced right, super cute and you can make up several of these Lip Plumpers at a time.
MCT Oil
You’ll need a carrier oil that is safe to consume since you will be putting these on your lips and will likely end up swallowing some whether you mean to or not.
I like to use organic MCT oil for this. It’s made from coconut and has some really incredible health benefits.
You can use MCT oil for pretty much any essential oil use and it’s safe to be consumed, unlike fractionated coconut oil.
I like to use this MCT Oil for this.
Essential Oils for Your Natural Lip Plumper
The main essential oil you’ll want to use for your Natural Lip Plumper is Cinnamon Essential Oil. That is the oil that will be doing most of the “plumping”. If you only use one essential oil in this recipe, you’ll want to be sure to use Cinnamon Essential Oil.
Please make sure you are using an essential oil that is safe to consume. Most inexpensive “essential oils” from your local superstore are synthetic fragrance oils. Your essential oil bottle should have supplement facts label on the back (just like our food packages) or it is edible.
I’ve included a few other essential oils you can add, although they are less important if you are truly wanting to plump up your lips.
This DIY Lip Plumper may make your lips feel Hot and Tingly!
Your lips are sensitive so be sure to use a bit of caution with the number of drops of Cinnamon essential oil you add to your lip plumper.
Cinnamon essential oil is considered a ‘hot’ oil’ (meaning it is very warm when applied topically to skin). Your lips may feel a bit tingly. If it’s too much, apply some MCT oil directly to your lips to lessen the feeling.
Be sure to only use 10 or less drops of Cinnamon. Start with less drops if you tend to have more sensitive skin. Add up to 10 drops If you your skin can handle it.
Your lips will feel a bit tingly when you put this on.
If you find it’s a bit too tingly, then just rub a bit more MCT oil or coconut oil over your lips to dilute the oil even more.Do not use water as this will cause the oil to penetrate faster and deeper into your lips.
The Cinnamon and Peppermint essentials oils make this DIY Lip Plumper Taste amazing!! But you’re going to need to refrain from licking your lips for a few minutes after application so that it has time to take effect and work effectively.
A word about Essential Oil Safety
Choose your essential oils carefully – most are not what they seem.
Why doTERRA and not something from Amazon or Walmart?
Did you know that most essential oils at drugstores are synthetic fragrance only? And did you know that most oils on Amazon, even doTERRA, are adulterated(tampered with and diluted with coconut oil), and can’t be trusted? It’s extremely easy for someone to replace the supposed tamper proof cap to give you the false sense of security that your oil hasn’t been messed with.
Be sure to buy from a safe source. Look for a doTERRA Certified Site such as this one to ensure you are getting the best in service and true doTERRA product.
