Supplies and Ingredients Needed to make Gingerbread Lotion Bars
Here’s what you’ll need to make these cute gingerbread lotion bars:
Gingerbread Soap Mold – You can grab this exact mold from Amazon.
- Size: 8.3″ x 4.2″ x 0.55″, 12-cavity silicone chocolate candy molds. Material: silicone.
Gingerbread Theme DIY Gift Basket: You can also use the same mold to make Gingerbread Shower Bombs and Gingerbread Soap. Combine all of them together along with some homemade Gingerbread Body Butter for a cute DIY Gift Basket!
Raw Shea Butter – This is the shea butter I use for many of my DIY Natural skincare projeccts
Coconut Oil – Be sure to use one that is cold pressed, THIS coconut oil is my favorite to use because it tested low in phthalates by mamavation who I rely on for product testing information.
Beeswax Pellets
Essential Oils – make your own Gingerbread scent by combining the following essential oils:
- Ginger – 8 drops
- Nutmeg – 6 drops
- Clove – 4 drops
- Vanilla – 4 drops
- Bergamot – 2 drops
- Cinnamon – 2 drops
- Orange – 2 drops
Step by Step How to make Gingerbread Lotion Bars
The first step will be to melt your butters and coconut oil together in a heat proof jar using a microwave or a double boiler on the stovetop.
Weigh out the ingredients into a bowl placed on a scale. Be sure to take the weight of the bowl into account and press the ‘tare’ button before adding each ingredient so you get accurate measures.
If using a microwave, heat on high in 30 second increments, stirring in between until everything is evenly melted.
Once all your butters are melted, let it cool slightly, then add your essential oils and stir thoroughly.
Next, pour the mixture into your gingerbread man mold. I recommend placing your mold on a cutting board first to make it easy to move if needed. Otherwise, it’s floppy and will ruin the gingerbread men if moved before they harden.
Refrigerate the mold for 20 minutes or let it sit on the counter for a few hours until the mixture has hardened.
Once it’s cooled and hardened, pop the gingerbread men out of the mold.

Is there a substitute for coconut oil? Some friends are allergic.
Really enjoyed making these lotion bars. For an eco-friendlier version, I suggest using beeswax from local farms and organic essential oils. Also, consider packaging them in reusable tins for gifting.
