benefits of ground oats for skin vs whole oats
Ground oats can be beneficial for the skin due to their soothing and exfoliating properties. They can help to calm irritated skin, relieve itchiness, and reduce inflammation. Additionally, ground oats can gently exfoliate the skin, removing dead cells and promoting a smoother complexion.
Ground oats are better for the skin than whole oats because they have a finer texture, making them easier to use in skincare products. The fine texture of ground oats allows them to exfoliate the skin more effectively, removing dead cells and promoting a smoother complexion.

Supplies You’ll Need to Make This Soap Bar
Before you get started, gather all your supplies, so you have everything ready.
Here’s what you’ll need:
Soap Mold – you can use whatever mold you like. If you have a mold already, you can use that.
This is the mold I used for this soap. It’s a basic 4 inch square and then I used this wavy soap cutter to cut wedges and get the look you see in the photo. It’s purely cosmetic so if you don’t have to have the soap cutter.
Goat’s Milk Melt and Pour Soap Base – I use melt and pour soap base here because it has already gone through the saponification process so I don’t have to do that myself. It’s easy to melt in a double boiler or in the microwave. This is the one I used.
Essential Oils – I added Lavender, Eucalyptus, and Roman Chamomile because of how beneficial they are for dry, irritated skin.
Dried Flower Buds – I added dried lavender and chamomile flower buds, and some crushed eucalyptus leaves. Totally optional, you could leave them out.
Ground Oats – You’ll want to use organic oatmeal and then pop it into a food processor or blender to crush the oats up. This offers more benefits that the whole oatmeal.
Step By Step Instructions to make your Chamomile Lavender Eucalyptus Soap with Ground Oats
Step 1: Cut the soap base into 1 inch cubes and add to a glass measuring cup.
Step 2: Heat the soap base in the microwave on high heat for 30 seconds. Remove and stir well. Heat for additional 30 second increments, stirring between each session until the soap is fully melted. Alternative: You could melt the soap in a double boiler instead of the microwave.
Step 3: Allow the melted soap to cool for a few minutes, then stir well and add the essential oils.
Step 4: Stir in the crushed oatmeal.
Step 5: Pour a small amount of the soap base into the mold, then spray with rubbing alcohol.
Step 6: Sprinkle most of the eucalyptus leaves (save a few for Step 9), allow to set for a few minutes, and add more soap base. Then spray with the rubbing alcohol again.
Step 7: Repeat the step above with the lavender buds.
Step 8: Repeat the steps above with the chamomile.
It should look like this after step 6 – 8:
Step 9: Top with the rest of the soap base, and spray with rubbing alcohol.
Step 10: Sprinkle the remainder of the dried flowers over the top of the soap. I did this in rows to get the effect you see in the final photo.
Step 11: Allow the soap to set for 4-8 hours, then cut into 1 inch bars with the wavy soap cutter.
Note: If you did your dried flowers in rows like mentioned in step 10, be sure to cut perpendicular from the rows of herbs so you get some of each flower in each soap bar, otherwise you’ll end up with all of one flower.
