What You’ll Need to Make Eucalyptus Shower Steamers
Here’s everything you’ll need to create these refreshing and aromatic shower steamers. Let’s get started!
- Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons eucalyptus leaves
- 2 tablespoons lavender flowers
- ½ cup Epsom salts
- ½ cup baking soda
- 1 ½ tablespoons water
- 10-15 drops essential oils
- Supplies:
- Silicone mold
- Mixing bowl
Let’s talk about the Ingredients!
Eucalyptus Leaves
I love using eucalyptus leaves because they bring a refreshing, spa-like feel to the steamers and are key to opening up your airways.
Lavender Flowers
Lavender flowers add a subtle floral note that pairs beautifully with eucalyptus. When finely ground, they mix easily with the other ingredients, adding both fragrance and texture.
Epsom Salts
Epsom salts give these steamers a slightly gritty texture that dissolves beautifully under warm water. They also help hold the mixture together when molded.
Baking Soda
Baking soda creates the base for the steamers and helps them dissolve evenly in the shower. It’s lightweight and easy to combine with the other ingredients.
Essential Oils (Optional)
Essential oils are optional but highly recommended. Eucalyptus oil is especially effective for clearing sinuses and creating a refreshing shower experience. You can also experiment with other scents to match your preferences.
Silicone Mold
You can use any silicone mold you may have on hand. This is the one I used and they are the perfect size! Not too big, not too small.
Step-by-Step Instructions to Make Eucalyptus Shower Steamers

With a few natural ingredients, you can create perfect eucalyptus shower streamers. Before you get started, gather the following:
- 2 tablespoons eucalyptus leaves
- 2 tablespoons lavender flowers
- ½ cup Epsom salts
- ½ cup baking soda
- 1 ½ tablespoons water
- 10-15 drops essential oils
- Silicone mold
In a mixing bowl, combine the Epsom salts and baking soda. Stir until evenly blended.

Drop in 10-15 drops of essential oil and mix thoroughly. This ensures the fragrance is evenly distributed throughout the mixture.

Using an herb/coffee grinder or mortar and pestle, grind the eucalyptus leaves and lavender flowers into a fine powder.

Add the powder to the bowl and mix well.

Slowly add the water to the mixture, stirring as you go. The goal is to make the mixture slightly damp but not soaking wet. Be cautious—too much water will prevent the steamers from hardening properly.

Scoop the mixture into a silicone mold, pressing it firmly into each cavity. Smooth out the tops to ensure even shapes.

Leave the steamers in the mold overnight or until they are completely hard. This step allows them to set and hold their shape.
Once hardened, remove the steamers from the mold and store them in an airtight container. Place one on the shower floor while you bathe, and let the steam release its refreshing scent!
How to Use Your Eucalyptus Shower Steamers
- Place one shower steamer on the floor of your shower, away from direct water flow.
- Let the steam activate the steamer, releasing its refreshing eucalyptus and lavender aroma.
- Breathe deeply and enjoy the spa-like experience as the soothing scent clears your senses and calms your mind.
This recipe makes about 6 shower steamers if you’re using a similar mold. Eucalyptus Shower Steamers are perfect for adding relaxation to your routine or gifting to friends and family. They’re a simple yet thoughtful way to bring the benefits of natural aromatherapy into any shower! Try them for yourself or make a batch as a thoughtful handmade gift for friends and family!

Eucalyptus Shower Steamers Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons eucalyptus leaves
- 2 tablespoons lavender flowers
- ½ cup Epsom salts
- ½ baking soda
- 1 ½ tablespoon water
- 10-15 drops essential oils
- Silicone mold
Instructions
- Combine the Epsom salt and baking soda together.
- Add in the drops of essential oil and mix thoroughly.
- Grind up the leaves until you have a fine powder.
- Mix the dried herbs into the Epsom salt mixture.
- Slowly add in water. You do not want it to be soaking wet, just slightly wet. If it is too wet, it will not harden properly. So be sure to go slow.
- Put the mixture into your silicone mold. Let it sit overnight or until it is hard.
- Once hardened, gently peel out of the mold. Store in an airtight container.
- To use, place 1 or 2 on the bottom of the shower while you're showering. They will dissolve in the warm water and the aroma will help open your airways along with the steam from the shower.
