Health Benefits of Butterfly Pea Flower
Butterfly pea flower, also known as Clitoria ternatea, is a flowering plant that has been used in traditional medicine for centuries.
One of its most notable benefits is its high antioxidant content, which helps combat oxidative stress in the body. Antioxidants play a crucial role in fighting free radicals, potentially reducing the risk of chronic diseases.
A few of the benefits of butterfly pea flower tea:
- Rich in antioxidants, helping to reduce oxidative stress.
- May improve skin health, promoting a youthful glow.
- Supports cognitive function and memory enhancement.
- Known for its anti-inflammatory properties, which can aid in overall wellness.
Butterfly pea flower is believed to improve skin health, enhance cognitive function, and even promote hair growth.
It contains anthocyanins, which are pigments responsible for its vibrant blue color and are recognized for their anti-inflammatory properties.
Some studies suggest that butterfly pea flower can also have a positive impact on mood and anxiety levels, making it an excellent ingredient to include in your nighttime ritual.
What do butterfly pea flowers taste like?
Butterfly pea flower tea has a very mild, delicate flavor thatโs often described as:
- Light and slightly earthy
- Softly floral (but not perfumey like lavender)
- Smooth and clean
- Almost neutral compared to stronger herbal teas
Many people notice that itโs more about the visual experience than a bold taste. If youโre expecting something sweet or intensely floral, you may want to add some honey.
Why Ashwagandha?
Ashwagandha, often referred to as Indian ginseng, is another powerhouse ingredient commonly used in Ayurvedic medicine.
This adaptogenic herb is known for its ability to help the body adapt to stress, promoting a sense of balance and calm.
Ashwagandha has been shown to reduce cortisol levels, the stress hormone, which can significantly improve overall well-being.
Studies indicate that ashwagandha can enhance sleep quality, lower stress, increase energy levels, and improve cognitive function.
When combined with butterfly pea flower in Blue Moon Milk, it creates a synergistic effect that soothes and calms the mind, making it a perfect beverage for winding down after a hectic day.
