Ingredients and Supplies You’ll need to make Green Tea Sugar Scrub Bars
Here’s everything you’ll need to make these green tea sugar scrub bars:
Silicone Soap Mold – I used this cylinder shaped mold. Use any shape you like or have on hand that is a small size – you don’t want your bars to big too big since these are meant to be single use.
Melt and Pour Soap Base – use your favorite, it doesn’t really matter what kind you use. Here is one example of a goat’s milk melt and pour soap base I have used. You can use your soap base for many other DIY Soaps!!
Sugar – organic if possible since this will be going on your skin – the largest organ in your body. Best to avoid pesticides.
Almond Oil – this is the sweet almond oil I like to use
Bergamot Essential Oil
Orange Essential Oil
Green Tea – This organic loose leaf green tea is my favorite. Side note – I drink this almost daily! In a pinch you can empty the contents of 1 or 2 green tea bags to get 1 TBSP.
Optional – microwave safe spouted measuring cup (preferably glass) and wooden craft sticks for stirring and quick cleanup.
How to make Green Tea Sugar Scrub Bars
The first step is to add four 1 inch cubes of soap base to a microwave safe measuring cup and heat for 30 seconds, remove and stir. Repeat until the soap base is melted.
Note: You could use a double boiler if you prefer or even make your own double boiler by putting a mason jar inside a pot of simmering water. Add your soap base cubes to the mason jar.
The next step is to stir in the sugar and sweet almond oil. If the mixture is starting to harden, heat it again for a few seconds to soften it. Mix well.
Next add your essential oils.
Then stir in the green tea leaves.
The last step is to pour your mixture in the silicone mold. Let it set for 1 – 2 hours to cool and harden. Once it’s cool, you can pop them out of the mold and store them in an airtight container.
