What You’ll Need To Make DIY Christmas Tree Bath Bombs
Before you get started, gather all your ingredients and supplies which will make the process go smoothly.
Here’s what you’ll need to make these cute Christmas Tree Bath Bombs:

- ½ cup baking soda
- ¼ cup food grade citric acid
- ¼ cup unscented Epsom salt
- ¼ cup corn starch
- ½ teaspoon almond oil (or jojoba, argan, avocado, etc)
- 8 drops essential oil (Balsam Fir, Douglas Fir, Peppermint, etc)
- Spray bottle with water
- Green mica powder (optional – could leave uncolored if preferred)
- Christmas tree silicone mold
You can use any mold you like. This is the Christmas Tree Mold I used:
Step by Step Directions To Make DIY Christmas Tree Bath Bombs
First add your chosen essential oils to the almond oil.

Next, mix the baking soda, citric acid, Epsom salt, and corn starch in a large bowl.

Now, slowly add the almond oil/essential oil mixture to the bowl of baking soda, citric acid mixture. Stir to combine.

Add in mica powder in small amounts and stir until you get your desired color. You could leave this out if you prefer.

Now spray the mixture with water until it gets to a moldable sand consistency. (I did around 12 spritzes). You don’t want it too wet, but don’t want it too dry either.

The final step is to press the mixture into your mold. I was able to get 5 Christmas Trees with the mold I used.

Now let your molds dry for about 24 hours or until the trees are hardened. I like to leave mine on a cookie sheet or cutting board out of the way. Let it sit in a dry spot that isn’t overly humid or they’ll never harden.
Once hardened, carefully unmold the trees by gently pulling back the silicone.

Tips for success
- Consistency is key: If the mixture feels too dry and crumbly, spritz a little more water and remix in small increments.
- Storage: Keep finished bombs in an airtight container away from moisture. They’ll stay fresh for several weeks.
- Custom scents: Experiment with pine / fir + orange for a bright holiday scent, or cedarwood + vanilla for a cozy, woodsy aroma. Peppermint for a candy scent.
- Skin-friendly: If you have sensitive skin, choose mild fragrances and consider using a carrier oil like almond or jojoba. Patch test if unsure.
Decoration ideas
- Sprinkle Powdered glitter (cosmetic-grade) into the silicone tray before pressing in the mixture for a frosty look.
- Embellish lids or jars with twine, tiny bells, or dried citrus slices for gift-ready presentation.
Gift-ready packaging ideas
- Clear cellophane bags tied with twine and a sprig of evergreen.
- A small mason jar with a homemade label that reads “Christmas Tree Bath Bombs.”
- Add a printable tag with usage instructions and a brief note about scent notes.
Safety and clean-up
- Citric acid can be irritating in large quantities; keep hands clean and wash them after handling.
- If a child helps, supervise closely during the wet-and-dry combination steps and mold filling.
- Rinse surfaces thoroughly after crafting to avoid slippery residues.
How to use your Christmas Tree Bath Bomb
Once dropped in warm water, your bath bomb will fizz and maybe spin a bit, tinting the water green and releasing clouds of Christmas scent. Close your eyes and imagine a forest blanketed in snow, the hush of winter around you, and the faint glow of fairy lights in the distance.
These Christmas Tree Bath Bombs are a handmade gift of calm — the kind that reminds you to slow down, sip something warm, and take in the season.
