DIY Rice Face Mask for Glass Skin

Get glass skin on a budget with this easy DIY Rice Face Mask recipe you can make at home with ingredients you probably have in your pantry.
You don’t need to drop half your paycheck at Sephora to get that elusive “glass skin” glow. Sometimes, the most powerful skincare ingredients aren’t sitting in a fancy glass bottle—they’re sitting in your kitchen pantry right next to the beans.
I’ve been obsessed with the DIY rice face mask lately, and for good reason. This isn’t just some random TikTok trend; rice has been the “secret weapon” in East Asian beauty rituals for centuries because it’s a powerhouse for brightening and soothing stressed-out skin.

Why You’ll Love A Rice Face Mask
The best part about this mask is that it’s essentially a spa-grade treatment without the “spa-grade” price tag. If you’ve been dealing with a dull complexion or skin that just feels tired, this is the ultimate reset.
It’s one of those rare DIYs where you actually see a difference the moment you wash it off—your skin looks calmer, tighter, and noticeably more “awake.”
Plus, there is something incredibly satisfying about knowing exactly what is going onto your face. No hidden parabens, no synthetic fragrances you can’t pronounce—just pure, skin-loving goodness.
Whether you’re prepping for a big event or just trying to survive a long week, here is why this rice mask is about to become your new obsession:
What you’ll love about using these Rose Lotion Bars
- Instant Brightening: Rice contains natural enzymes that help fade dark spots and give you that “lit-from-within” glow.
- Oil Control: It’s a natural mattifier, soaking up excess sebum without stripping your skin of its essential moisture.
- Anti-Aging Perks: Packed with antioxidants and Vitamin E, it helps smooth out fine lines and improves skin elasticity.
- Total Versatility: It’s the perfect base—you can keep it simple or toss in a few extra ingredients to target whatever your skin is throwing at you today. I love to add Frankincense and Lavender essential oil.
- Eco-Friendly & Cheap: It’s sustainable, zero-waste, and costs pennies per application.

Step By Step Directions For To Make A DIY Rice Face Mask
First, rinse your rice until it’s not cloudy anymore. Just like you would if you’re cooking it to eat.

Then, put the rice in a small pot, cover it with hot water, put the lid on and cook on medium heat for about 20 minutes until the rice is tender.
Next, strain out the water, keeping the water. You’ll need a bit of it in the next step.

Put the rice in a food processor or blender, Add a few tablespoons of the water you strained out.

Blend until the rice is smooth. Add a bit more of the rice water if needed. Add only a teaspoon at a time so that you don’t add too much. You don’t want it runny.
Lastly, mix in a few drops of essential oils if you’re using them.

How To Use Your Rice Face Mask

You should use the rice face mask right away. Apply on face using clean hands or an applicator. Let it sit for about 15 minutes, then rinse off.
