How This Cinnamon Sugar Scrub Benefits Your Skin
This cinnamon sugar scrub offers more than just a lovely scent. It gives your skin the kind of care that feels both gentle and effective.
Smooths Away Dryness
The sugar works as a mild exfoliant. It helps sweep away rough, dry patches without being too harsh. After rinsing, your skin feels fresh and renewed.
Adds a Nourishing Glow
The oil in this scrub helps lock in moisture. It leaves your skin feeling soft and smooth instead of stripped or dry. I used avocado oil for its rich texture, but any gentle oil works well.
Cozy and Comforting
Cinnamon has a natural warmth that makes this scrub feel cozy and comforting. It adds a rich, earthy aroma that makes each use feel calming and grounding.
Feels Good from First Use
It glides on easily, rinses off cleanly, and gives your skin a light softness you can feel right away. If youโre looking for a scrub that feels both simple and indulgent, this one fits beautifully.
What Youโll Need to Make It
This recipe makes around 12 ounces of scrub and comes together in just a few minutes. Hereโs what youโll need:
- 1 cup sugar
- ยฝ cup carrier oil
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon powder
- 15 drops essential oil (optional)
- A clean glass container for storage
Sugar
Sugar gives the scrub its gentle texture. Itโs coarse enough to exfoliate, but not so rough that it irritates the skin. As you massage it in, it helps remove buildup and leaves your skin smoother with each use. I used plain white sugar for this, but you could use any kind of sugar.
I recommend using organic sugar if possible since you are directly applying this to the largest organ in your body – your skin! There’s no reason to add extra toxins to your body that can disrupt hormones.
Cinnamon Powder
Ground Cinnamon powder gives this scrub its warm scent and slightly warming effect. It stimulates the surface of your skin, adding a natural glow. It also gives the scrub a soft golden color that looks beautiful in the jar.
I used this organic cinnamon powder:
Carrier Oil
I used this jojoba oil for this sugar scrub, as I do for most of my skin care DIY’s because it is closest to our skin’s natural oil. It helps soften the skin and gives the scrub a smooth, spreadable consistency.
You can also use avocado oil, liquid coconut oil (a.k.a. fractionated coconut oil), almond, or jojoba oil depending on your skin type or what you have on hand.
Essential Oils
Adding essential oils is optional but highly recommended. A few drops of vanilla create a cozy scent that pairs well with the cinnamon.
If you decide to use cinnamon essential oil, be very cautious and start with only a few dropsโit is strong and can feel hot on the skin. A gentler oil like sweet orange or lavender is a lovely substitute.
How to Make Your Cinnamon Sugar Scrub
You can mix this scrub in under ten minutes with just a bowl and spoon. Follow these easy steps to bring it all together.
Step 1: Add Essential Oils To The Carrier Oil
Add your essential oil drops to the carrier oil. Stir well so the scent spreads evenly throughout. This step also allows the oil to carry the aroma more gently onto the skin.
Step 2: Blend the Dry Ingredients
In a separate bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon powder. This helps distribute the cinnamon evenly and avoids clumping.
Step 3: Combine Everything
Slowly pour the scented oil into the sugar and cinnamon blend. Stir until everything is well combined and the scrub reaches a thick, moist texture.
You want it to hold together but still feel easy to scoop.
Step 4: Store It
Transfer the scrub into a clean glass jar or container with a tight lid. Keep it at room temperature in a dry place, and it’s ready to use whenever your skin needs a little boost.
How Can You Use The Cinnamon Sugar Scrub
This cinnamon sugar scrub is easy to use and just as simple to store. With the right care, it stays fresh and keeps your skin feeling soft and pampered every time.
- Take a small scoop of scrub using clean fingers or a dry spoon
- Gently rub it onto damp skin in circles, focusing on dry or rough areas
- Rinse well with warm water and pat your skin dry
- I like using it in the shower when I need something comforting and warming
When stored properly, the scrub stays fresh and ready to use for several weeks. If you notice any change in smell or consistency, itโs best to make a new batch.
