Learn About Essential Oils
What IS an Essential Oil?
Essential Oils are distilled directly from different parts of plants. They can come from the roots, bark, rind, flower, or leaves of a plant. These compounds are what gives the plant it's distinctive smell and help protect the plant from various threats. The same compounds can give us the same health benefits!
How to Use Essential Oils
There are three ways to use essential oils. In this video, Dr. Hill discusses the BEST way to use essential oils and how HE personally uses them.
Essential oils, when diffused or inhaled, can be very stimulating, calming, or soothing; diffusing essential oils can also cleanse and purify the air.
Essential oils can be safely applied for massage or topical benefit. Essential oils can be diluted with a carrier oil such as coconut, jojoba, grape seed, or avocado oil. This allows the oil to remain on the body longer, and prevents skin irritation, especially in younger children or anyone with sensitive skin.
Certain essential oils have a rich culinary history and can be used as dietary supplements for targeted wellness. Some oils, such as lemon may be added to water. Oils may also be put in an empty capsule and swallowed. This only applies to Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade essential oils. ** Please do not take any other “pure” essential oil internally as this can be very toxic.
