I find this tool very handy to have.  It fits up to 600 ml (20oz) of ingredients, fits over the top of your pots, and doesn't require a ton of storage space.  

You'll use be able to use this double boiler in many DIY projects.  And you can even use this double boiler to melt chocolate for baking!

When making this foot ointment and any other DIY beauty project  like this whipped body butter that requires you to melt ingredients together, you'll need to melt all the ingredients in a double boiler so this is an inexpensive investment that will make your life much easier.

Ingredients for your homemade foot ointment

You'll want to use organic ingredients when possible.  You will be absorbing the ingredients into your body through your skin - our largest organ.  You do not want to be absorbing harmful preservatives and synthetic ingredients which can disrupt hormones, and cause all kinds of health issues.

The Tea Tree Essential oil adds extra benefits for your skin and toenails.  It can help with unsightly toenails and is wonderful for your skin - it can help anyone who suffers from scaling, inflammation, itching and burning.   

You can substitute Peppermint Essential Oil in place of the Tea Tree essential oil, and you'll have a really wonderful cooling balm that feels fantastic on tired feet.

This DIY cracked heel foot balm is my favorite way to heal dry cracked heels, and it makes an excellent overnight moisturizer for your feet.  I notice a massive improvement in my heels in just one use.  
When you use this foot ointment regularly, your feet's skin, especially the heels, turns super soft and feels amazing.  Say goodbye to cracked heels!

  • Combine all ingredients in a saucepan over very low heat, or double boiler. Stir until melted.
  • Remove from heat and stir to combine, then add essential oils.
  • Pour mixture into a clean jar.
  • Massage a small amount into your feet at bedtime to moisturize.  Throw on some socks and your feet will be magically improved in the morning.
