3) Sleep Support with Lavender

Lesson 3

One of the most common uses for Lavender is in support of healthy, deep sleep.

It is important for our bodies to rest and reach REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep. This is the stage where much healing, cellular repair, and recuperation takes place.

Lavender's calming, sedative, and relaxing properties are the perfect compliment for winding down from the day and encouraging a restful state. Lavender can be used on its own, applied topically to your feet, taken internally, or diffused to support sleep.

Lavender is also an ingredient in many sleep-promoting blends such as our Restful Blend (Serenity), Grounding Blend (Balance), and Focus Blend (In Tune).

One of my favorite ways to use Lavender is to make a SLEEPY TIME LINEN SPRAY.  I spritz my sheets and pillow before bedtime to create a calming environment.  To create the spray, I combine 10–15 drops Lavender and water in a glass 8-ounce spray bottle.

This roller blend is what I rely on to help me get to sleep every night.  It is a wonderful way to help me shut my brain off.  I roll it on the back of my neck, and bottoms of my feet a few minutes before I'm ready to fall into snooze land.
